The familiar smell of race exhaust greeted me warmly as I entered the grounds of Sebring International Raceway this past Saturday. Old race cars screamed by at incredible speeds below Fangio Terrace and I had all day to shoot. The last race I’d attended this year was the Rolex 24 at Daytona, way back in January, so this seemed like a great opportunity to shoot at lower shutter speeds and steady my hands with the lens, get in rhythm with the race. I didn’t go for the whole weekend, but made the most out of Saturday, spending 11 hours wandering around the track, shooting nearly 2,500 shots, earning a couple of new foot blisters and ant bites, but witnessing and capturing some great new memories. Below are some of my favorite shots. Be sure to follow me on Instagram as I’ll be posting more shots there throughout the week.

Racing continued on into the night…

When it was all said and done, as it often goes when I’m actually at a race, I wasn’t sure who the winners were, but I found a pretty good article with the results on racecar.com that I’m linking here, unless you’re interested. Really for me, it was more about seeing historical cars simply going fast, getting to see and hear them outside of a garage or a museum. That’s what it’s mostly about for me. Stay tuned on Instagram as I share more through out the week.
